No matter how hard Miley Cyrus tries to be sexy (and boy does she try hard), we have a hard time buying it. It's partially because we'll always think of her as Hannah Montana and partially because she's still only 17. We like to keep things legal here.
But having said that, we come down firmly on Miley's side now that her latest video, "Who Owns My Heart?" has been criticized by the Parents Television Council. The PTC is a group of wrinkled people that regularly gets angry when young women try to be sexy, and Miley's latest attempt has predictably ruffled its prudish feathers.
"It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one," Tim Winter, the group's president, told TMZ. "Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fan base so rapidly."
Ugg. This is like Katy Perry's boobs all over again. Even though we don't find this video hot, we're all for Miley's right to be sexy, or at least to try. Haven't these PTC folks seen a music video before? Don't they know that all videos, by law, must include images of girls writhing around in their underwear? It's just the way things are. Welcome to 1981, Parents Television Council!
Miley's video is below. What do you think? Too sexy, not sexy enough or just right?
