Miley Cyrus lands dream role, leaves Perez Hilton in pain

With a past that consists of tame Disney fare, Miley Cyrus is now on the verge of both sinking Perez Hilton and committing to far darker movies to mark her new adult life.

The 17-year old Disney stalwart is attached to star in a film adaptation of the paranormal thriller novel ‘Wake,’ by Lisa McMann. Written in 2008, the book tells the story of high-school student Janie Hannagan, who discovers she has the unwelcome ability to share other people’s dreams.

While those of her classmates are harmless, Janie finds one lonely guy whose dreams are too awful to witness. The two fall for each other, then he gets involved in the drug trade and they soon drift apart. But her unusual gift becomes his salvation.

Paramount have now locked up the rights to ‘Wake’ and its two sequels – ‘Fade’ and ‘Gone’ which were published this year – And Miley would be the lead in all three. The trilogy were all New York Times best-sellers, and the studio has plans to make them a franchise.

It’s ‘Twilight’ all over again!

Miley’s commitment is said to be fairly solid, but THR says a final decision on whether she’ll star rests on the standard of the completed script.

As for her involvement in the press-seeking broo-ha concocted by Perez Hilton, things are not going well for the blogger;

Though the full weight of judicial redress has yet to descend on his too-slender shoulders, Perez is bleeding red ink – ABC has already pulled advertising for ‘The View’ from his blog, and other sponsors are believed to be ready to quit.

“It’s not a matter of whether you like him or not. Miley is a minor, period,” says a source. “There are ethics involved in running an ad on a site that violated the rights of a minor, and that’s what the conversation is about at the network.”

For once, Perez himself has nothing to say. Meantime, what’s your review of Miley’s new choice in film?…
